Timothy is very excited to be teaching two classes at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts this year. The first class, Carve It Unique, will take place March 22 - 25 and will focus on wood carving. The second class, Mirrors: See Yourself As A Woodworker, will take place September 30 - October 6 and is a comprehensive woodworking course. We will cover a lot of skills and techniques and utilize them in creating projects in class. Our intent is to leave inspired and capable! Find out more ...

The Grovewood Gallery in Asheville, NC has invited Timothy to participate in an upcoming show, Artists New to Asheville. The gallery is located on the grounds of the historic Grove Park Inn. The exhibition will be displayed November 6 - December 31, 2010 with an opening reception on November 13th.

Timothy has been invited to display his work at the J.W. Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan during the ArtPrize competition. His work will be entered in the competition. Check out the ArtPrize website to learn about this incredible event that offers the winner a cash prize of $250,000!

Collaborating with artist Elizabeth Ewing, Timothy is creating a new body of work for an exhibition at The Clingman Cafe in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC. The work is focused on reducing the number of processes used to complete a piece and honing his carving skills. It is an exciting opportunity for both artists, pushing their drawings into painted and carved works. It is a new direction for both artists and Timothy is very thankful to have the opportunity to work Elizabeth.
The exhibit will be on display September 1-30, 2010.

Timothy will have his work featured at Echo Gallery in Asheville, NC. He has been invited to present as a guest artist. Timothy will have three designs published in Lark Books' upcoming release, 500 Cabinets. The book will be published in August 2010.

Timothy has been invited to be a member of a design team whose challenge is to create a room that contains only objects handmade in Western North Carolina. This group of incredible artists, designers, craftsman, and writers will be designing the space, designing and creating objects, and selecting local products to create a space of one's own. The event, Handmade: The Western North Carolina Craft, Architecture & Design Expo, is one of many great opportunities created by HandMade In America.

Oh Ponti, a smart chair designed and built by Timothy Maddox, is included in the exhbition Studio Furniture: The Next Generation. The exhibition will be on display at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design from 15 January - 21 February, the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 26 February - 12 March, and the Herron School of Art & Design from 7 April - 1 May. The fully illustrated exhibition catalog features a brilliant essay by Edward Cooke, Jr., professor of American Decorative Arts at Yale University.

Timothy Maddox is featured in the exhibition Are Chairs Just For Sitting at The Center For Craft, Creativity, and Design in Hendersonville, NC. The exhibition runs from 05 May to 14 August 2009.
